Biosecurity Concerns
Biosecurity is the ability of a country to feed itself and the rest of the world. This has become a primary concern of many since offensive moves by an “enemy” are no longer confined to direct attacks to people and structures. Today, a war could involve disrupting the established systems including that of food.
A single plant or animal disease outbreak could wreck havoc on the authority’s ability to keep plants and animals healthy. Advances in technology have been used by some misguided elements to bring harm in the same manner that it is sought to be used to prevent such harm. Even an outbreak of a very limited scale could work to undermine consumer confidence in the food supply.
